Policy

Editorial policy

What we will publish, how it is sourced, what carries a label, and how a mistake gets fixed.

EFFECTIVE

Sourcing

  • Named sources. A person quoted in a story is named, with their role and their employer. Where a source cannot be named, the story says why and says what the source is in a position to know.
  • Primary sources are linked. Every factual claim links to the document it came from: the FDA record, the guidance, the standard, the filing, the release. A claim we cannot link is a claim we do not run.
  • Standards are cited by number and year. ISO 11607:2019, not the packaging standard. A revision year changes what a sentence means.
  • FDA data is cited to the record. Every data page on this site carries the FDA export date it was built from and a link to the specific FDA record, not to the database home.

Language

  • Plain English. Short sentences. No vendor adjectives. No em dashes.
  • We do not repeat a marketing claim as fact. A company saying its process is the fastest is a company saying so, and the story says it that way.
  • Numbers carry their basis: what was counted, over what period, from which dataset.

Labels

Every unit that is not independent editorial carries a visible label, and the label is in the markup as well as on the page, so a screen reader and a parser get the same answer a sighted reader gets.

  • Sponsored content is labeled as sponsored, is held to this same style guide, and is capped at one piece per section per month.
  • Contributed columns in Perspectives are labeled as contributed and carry the author’s employer.
  • Sponsored placements and category sponsorships are labeled wherever they appear, including in the newsletter.
  • Sponsors do not see stories before publication and do not review them. Money buys visibility, never coverage and never routing.

Ownership

Medical Device Manufacturing is published by Life Science Outsourcing, Inc. Editorial decisions are made independently of sponsors. Coverage of Life Science Outsourcing is supplier news like any other and is held to everything on this page. The full disclosure, including which service categories the publisher serves itself, is on about and network rules.

Corrections

We publish corrections. A correction is appended to the story it corrects, dated, and says what was wrong and what is now right. We do not silently edit a published claim, and we do not delete a story to make an error go away. A change that is not a factual correction, such as a typographical fix, is made without a note.

To report an error, use the contact page and say which story and which sentence.

What we do not promiseWe do not state a response time for a correction request. Nothing on this site states a turnaround unless there is a named owner behind the clock, and the newsroom has not been staffed yet.

Scores and rankings

The platform computes internal figures to order routing and directory listings. None of them is published, none is shown to any member as a number, a rank or a grade, and none appears in a page’s structured data, its metadata or its feeds. The only public expression of them is the order things appear in and whether a company carries a verification badge.
